COVID-19 Resources for African American Small Business Owners

DCEO’s African American Business Development Manager Matt Simpson will be hosting a series of webinars focusing on African American small businesses. Matt will be joined by a representative from the Small Business Administration to discuss the federal programs that are available. Please note the below webinars are open to all Illinois small business owners. However, DCEO recognizes that there are unique challenges that African American business owners face and will speak to those concerns in this webinar series.

Eighth Ward Mask Giveaway

We know personal protective equipment is in short supply, so we are trying to help out with a Mask Giveaway this Saturday. All 8th ward residents are invited to come from noon to 2 p.m. (or until supplies last) at 7415 S. East End Avenue.

Student loan relief during the COVID-19 pandemic

Illinois has expanded payment relief for student loan borrowers. Borrowers in need of assistance should contact their student loan servicer to identify the options that are appropriate to their circumstances. To determine the type of federal loans you have, visit www.nslds.ed.gov.

Have COVID-19-like symptoms? You can get a test. In the above graphic, you'll find the testing sites in or near the 17th District. Just be sure to look closely at the requirements before you head to a testing site. They may want you to set an appointment.
