It was an honor to serve as the keynote speaker for the Concerned Christian Men’s 12th Annual John E. Everett Award Celebration, which had the theme “Walk as Children of Light.” I enjoyed meeting and chatting with these young men. I know they have bright futures ahead of them.

It was a great time at Redeeming Grace Ministries Family and Friends Fun Day. It was even better to see my brother, Pastor Paul Sims bring home the win in the barbecue cook off. Thanks for having me.

I was pleased to join Chicago State University and the College of Pharmacy in recognizing three community giants: former Senate President Emil Jones, Jr., Bronzeville Children’s Museum President Peggy Montes and former University of Illinois and Illinois Board of Higher Education Member Dr. Frances Carroll.

I am a firm believer in giving people their flowers while they can smell them, and these three community trailblazers have earned an entire nursery worth of flowers.
